The Foreign Italian Leather Market

Italy, with 15% of the world leather market (leather and leather goods), is one of the leader country. In 2000 the manufacturing firms were over 11.000 and the employees more than 200.000. The exported turnover has been about € 13.345 millions, the imported turnover about € 5.479 milions. In 2001 these values have increased of 8% and 17%.

The Italian producers are located in many manufacturing districts whom we are linked with. As you can see in the map on the right, each of them is specialized in a particular kind of production.
